What materials make clothing sustainable?
Not all materials are equally friendly to the planet. Fortunately, there are more and more alternatives that not only look good but are also much more sustainable. At King Louie, we consciously choose fabrics that have less impact on the environment and feel great to wear.
Organic cotton:
Organic cotton (such as GOTS-certified cotton and cotton with the OCS100 label) is grown without harmful pesticides and uses less water than traditional cotton. This is not only better for nature but also for the farmers who work with it. Moreover, it’s a breathable, strong fabric that feels comfortable – ideal for various garments such as tops, pants, and cardigans.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™:
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose is a modern alternative to regular viscose. The fibers are derived from wood pulp from responsibly managed forests, and the production process uses significantly less water and energy. The result is a smooth, silky fabric that fits perfectly with feminine silhouettes and flowing designs – just as you would expect from King Louie.
Recycled polyester: By giving existing materials a second life, you reduce waste and the need for new raw materials. Recycled polyester is often made from recycled plastic bottles and is strong, shape-retaining, and versatile. Combined with other fabrics, it offers comfort, durability, and a more conscious choice. At King Louie, we use recycled polyester with the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) label.
